A Seamonster’s Tale, AGM and Supper

Free for Under 18’s and HMCG Members £4 for others. £5 for supper.

The Basking Shark is the second largest fish in the world and a spectacular feature in the seas around Britain. Hunted for centuries almost to the point of localized extinction for its liver oil and fins, it became the focal point of a major conservation campaign in the 1980’s, leading to protection and there is now hope that numbers are beginning to rise again. Yacht skipper and researcher Colin Speedie spent many years at sea conducting surveys for this magnificent creature along the western seaboard of the British Isles and has now written a book on the subject, “A Sea Monster’s Tale – In Search of the Basking Shark’. Come and hear him tell the story at our AGM.  Please book for supper.
