As if it was yesterday? Changes in marine species and habitats

”The shore was as if I had left it but yesterday”. Those were the words that Philip Henry Gosse used in his ‘Actinologia Britannica’ to describe a particular rockpool in Torbay that he had visited six years previously in 1853. Gosse seemed surprised that, after six years, everything was as he remembered it. Renowned marine biologist Keith Hiscock discusses how we can still find many of the species and habitats in exactly the same places as the first time they were recorded, often over 150 years ago. But there are changes including ones that have occurred in the vicinity of the Helford – some we can explain, some not.
