Cultivating the Native Oyster with Our AGM

The cultivation of the Native Oyster Ostrea edulis has seen some ups and downs in recent decades, poor water quality and disease have had a major impact on the viability of the industry.  Tristan Hugh-Jones’ family has farmed Native Oysters in Cork, Ireland for fifty years and he has recently concentrated on developing resistance in their stock to the parasite Bonamia ostreae that has had such a devasting effect on the industry.  Come and listen to this interesting insight and join in with our AGM.  Please book for light supper.
