Seaquest Southwest and Marine Megafauna in Cornwall

Cornwall harbours a rich and hugely diverse array of marine life, and while most people tend to associate the county with bustling rockpools and the occasional dolphin, Cornish coastal waters provide a habitat for some of the rarest and most enigmatic marine megafauna on the planet. These species’ include Risso’s dolphins, leatherback turtles, basking sharks and even killer whales to mention just a few. In order to properly understand these species’ distribution and occurrence in Cornish waters Cornwall Wildlife Trust established Seaquest Southwest, which has been collecting information on these enigmatic creatures for over a decade now. This talk will focus on Seaquest Southwest in 2014.
